art vein studio was started by Kate Strickland in 2007 as a space where she and others could explore their artistic selves and express their creativity. She offers workshops which allow participants to freely explore fresh approaches and new directions in creating art using mixed media.
Upcoming workshops for 2008 include sewn paper, collage, textured surfaces, found art assemblages, altered books, and printing without a press. Workshops are designed to accommodate all levels of experience and a variety of time slots are available. There are workshops for kids aged 9-12, teens, and adults. Besides the regularly scheduled workshops, art vein studio offers creative birthday parties, art retreat weekends, and custom sessions for groups.
Kate Strickland was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and lived and worked in many different places in Canada. Her formal art training comes from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax where she discovered an affinity for sculpture and intimate, crafted objects. She is inspired by the rugged landscapes of the Canadian Shield and northern Quebec. Her eclectic background and approach serve her well in her art-making and as an art workshop facilitator.
art vein studio is located at 487 Main Road across from the IGA. Kate Strickland can be reached at email@example.com and more information can be found at artveinstudio.com.
